As a founding partner of a law firm in Bogotá, Colombia, Jaime Lombana has practiced criminal law for nearly three decades. Jaime Lombana also serves as a professor at the Universidad del Rosario, which offers programs in a range of subjects, including international law and general criminal law.
The university undertakes research in areas including economic criminal law as well as current problems within criminal law. Research in the former category focuses on money laundering, while the latter encompasses criminal policy, corruption, and criminal procedure law. Student researchers can publish their findings in the magazine Legal Topics.
Universidad del Rosario emphasizes fighting international impunity collectively. Traditionally, transnational crimes, transitional justice, and international criminal law have been studied and practiced as independent fields. The university puts its emphasis on creating a framework to combine these studies in order to develop and disseminate research, legislation, knowledge management, and innovation, with cooperation from local and foreign universities.
